Update: since their sister restaurant A3 has come along, there have sadly been some big changes in my beloved Solstice. Firstly, the filet mignon is NOT at all what it used to be. The first time I got a fattier cut, I was willing to call it a bad night. The third time, not so much. They have increased the size of the filet and with that, the quality has gone. I've been hoping that these were merely off visits, but friends of mine who also love it here have expressed the same concern. The most recent visit for filet mignon (ordered medium rare) had come out almost completely raw. I know how hard it can be to cook a filet, trust me. But I also know that Solstice has never had an issue. When you are dealing with such large steaks, it's going to take a bit longer. If it were a bit under medium rare, I wouldn't have said a word. Even my husband was wide eyed in shock at the first cut into my meat. And I'm sorry, but if I'm paying $38 for a filet mignon on the south shore I expect to have a side of either roasted or whipped potatoes. Not French fries or sweet potato purée. Utterly disgusted in the lack of thought that had been put into the side dishes here lately. Oh, and why would you take the Seven Falls Merlot off the menu?
I'm sorry to write this, it hurts me. But we used to come here several times a year and then some! Either with family celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, or just date night for my husband and I. This was my absolute favorite place to be. I'm terribly saddened at what has become of Solstice since A3 has come along. -

The atmosphere is decent, the bar and high tops are more comfortable than the dining area. The temperature can be a crapshoot (by a heater is ridiculous), but I've also been cold. The service is consistently good and the same for the food. I've found their beef plates are better than the chicken (ie chicken on a brick is sometimes too salty and/or chewy). Whenever I've had their filet mignon with a choice of sauces I've always enjoyed it. Be mindful of what you are ordering because not all the dishes come with sides. It's also pricey. Two people who order meals and one drink each will easily be $100. Good variety of decadent desserts and a creative drink menu. Worth a try.

I want to start with, the food at Solstice has always been great, over priced but great. That being said I'll never go there again. The service was bad, hostess was incredibly rude. I won't go on with that because the main issue is the mark up on wine! When a restaurant advertises a $40 bottle of wine for $75 I can live with that mark up as its expected when you go out. But when they up the price to $125 for that same bottle..that's a 400% mark-up on a $40 bottle!!! And won't honor the price advertised on the website..Sooo greedy and taking advantage of people who like the wine by such a high mark-up because it's becoming popular. We left after 1 drink and an appetizer we didn't get to finish because the busboy took it of the table!

This review is about the appalling service we received at Solstice, rather than the food. Our waiter was so incredibly arrogant and rude that it made me question what kind of restaurant would hire such a person. First, the waiter brought me my Bloody Mary, it was extremely strong, there was no horseradish, hardly any Bloody Mary mix, and way too much vodka. When I politely asked the waiter if he could get me a new Bloody Mary, HE BROUGHT ME A CAN OF CAMPBELL'S TOMATO JUICE and just plopped it on the table and said nothing. Then he brought over four slices of bread and some butter for five people, so we asked if we could have another basket. Instead of just doing so, he snapped at my grandparents and told them that he would just bring over another slice of bread and that we didn't need more butter. When we asked if there were any specials he said "nope" and walked away... I am more than willing to pay good money for good food. That is not the issue here. However, I refuse to pay good money for bad service. Just because you are a waiter at a higher end restaurant does not mean you have to treat people like peasants. Especially when they are paying your tip. Solstice, do yourself a favor and SERVE YOUR STAFF SOME HUMBLE PIE.
